Jean Jacket Trends

I am completely head-over-heels in love with outerwear. So, when I saw a blue jean jacket with faux leather sleeves, I nearly had a heart attack.

This picture does not come close to doing it justice.

As usual, I got this jacket because I fell in love with it. It’s from Forever 21+ (sizes 1x-3x), it was about $30, and, unfortunately, is no longer available online.

Here comes the funny part.

I was searching for a spiked/studded backpack for school when I found this on Urban Outfitter’s website.

Only $79, guys. Also, to further the funny, I found this.

This is the origin of the trend, from Rag & Bone.

It is available from Nordstrom for $495.00.

Talk about an expensive trend for cheap.

Even though it’s Sunday, I’m already planning my next Saturday. Party season on campus is raging, and while searching for the perfect on-trend party outfit, I came across that beauty.
And that gorgeous dress had me thinking about a blouse from Topshop I’d been drooling over before.

Needless to say, I’m loving the two toned sequins, and a blue jean jacket would make that dress perfect for a more causal party.
It comes in sizes 14-24 at Deb’s.

Hello there, pretty sweater baby. You can find it here:
http://us.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=1&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33060&storeId=13052&productId=6649250&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=277013&parent_categoryId=208579&pageSize=200
Oh….It’s $96.00 (without tax or shipping) and only comes in sizes small, medium, and large.
So much variety.
Well, let me introduce you to my best friend:
Goodwill.
There, you can find a whole area of plus size clothing, including vintage sweaters.
(you can find one close to you here: http://locator.goodwill.org/)
I found a vintage (80s) Diane Von Furstenberg sweater at my local Goodwill for $5.99.
After that, I cut off the collar. Then I searched how to rip up sweaters using just scissors and a seam ripper.
This is the video I used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAhXfYgQRVQ
I don’t have my sweater at college with me because of the unbearable heat, but I will have it to post later.
But honestly, a savings of $90 for a cool, causally rock n roll sweater? Sounds good to me.
And a sweater like this can be worn with leggings and boots in the lazy school days of fall, or worn with dark jeans, a blazer, heels, and statement jewelry for a party night!

Helloo~ this is me!

A little more about me-

My style is a little bit of everything that inspires me: hipsters, indie rock, grungers, punk rockers, mods, and a mas-up of whatever I find interesting.

I’m a Liberal. (Obama 2012!) I believe in equal rights for everyone.

I’m pretty nerdy, socially awkward, and shy, but once you get to know me, my nerdiness and all other flaws become tolerable. :3

I love music. Especially indie rock, 60s psychedelic rock, garage rock, surf rock, and nearly anything that comes out of England. Some of my favorite bands are The Horrors, The Beatles, Black Lips, Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Cat’s Eyes, Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth,  The Black Keys, The Vaccines, Julian Casablancas, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Crocodiles, The Clash, and Pink Floyd.

Yes, that was the short list. (:

If you have any questions at all, please ask~
